Contact Juggling Basics (Contact Juggling Trick Tutorial)

In this tutorial you will be introduced to the basics of contact juggling. The three main basic techniques that you should learn first when starting out with a fushigi are the cradle, the butterfly, and the wiper.

Each of these are broken down in the easiest way possible to get you going in this unique art juggling space.

The first trick that you should start out with is the three finger cradle.  Start by lowering your middle finger and placing the ball on the back of your hand so that it is stabilized between three fingers.  This is important because you will need to be able to hold the ball on the back of your hand as easily as you can hold it in your palm.

There are also variations such as the two finger cradle and the vulcan hold, but the three finger cradle is the best to start out with.

Once you have the ball in one of these positions you can practice by moving your hand around and get familiar with how the weight shifts.

After this, move on to a toss and catch in one of these three cradle types.  Once you are comfortable catching the ball, move on to the wiper technique which is where you shift the ball from a back hand cradle hold to an open palm hold over the tips of your fingers pointing up at the ball at the top.  Use a windshield wiper motion to accomplish this.

This complete motion is called the butterfly when done in a figure 8 type pattern.

Get these tricks on lock first before moving on to anything more complicated and your learning experience will be much more enjoyable.
