Walk a Longline (Slackline Trick Tutorial)
Here we have a really good tutorial on getting started walking on a longline slackline. First off the main difference between walking on a short line vs walking a longline is the amount that the line will move back and forth as your balance is shifted. When walking a longline the movement of the line is much more drastic. Every little change in the axis of your body the more significant the movement left and right of the line underneath your feet. Another main difference when learning to longline is that oscillations in the line are much more pronounced and something that takes some getting used to at first. It is much easier to keep your balance while having two feet on the line as the slackline distance increases because you have two feet to pull with. On a short line it is many times easier with just one foot. It is very important to drive your forward movement starting from the point of your hips as this will give you the most control. You should try to distribute your weight between both legs but maybe have a little more of you weight on the front leg as this makes getting the next step easier. Every longline is different so take your time to get familiar with the set up that you are trying to master on a given session. There is no rush when it comes to slacklining, take your time, once you truly get this you will progress much faster overall. Mistakes or missteps are much more pronounced on a longline and are something that you definitely need to get used to. Do your best to ride the line, as it moves you need to move with it, when it is long it is much harder to try and control. Two very good ways to get on the line is by use of a chongo mount or a sit mount.
